About the Teaneck Baby Gemach
About Us
Did you know that….. a bottle of specialty formula can cost upwards of $32 per container? ….that a monthly supply of regular formula and diapers can cost $280 per month?
Now imagine... you have twins or triplets…and they are on specialty formula…and you have lost your job…or are facing a medical condition with mounting medical bills…you make enough income to be ineligible for WIC and other government programs, but make too little to make ends meet…
Our Mission
The Teaneck Baby Gemach is an organization that assists Jewish families in Bergen County, NJ, by distributing free baby equipment, clothing for babies through toddlers, and fundraising to purchase formula and diapers for families that are in need of financial help. We match donors and recipients confidentially to assist those who need help right here in our community. We save individuals significant amounts of money, but more importantly, we relieve the stress of a parent who at the happy time of a birth deserves to feel good about providing the best for their child.
Who do we help? Parents and guardians who have a hard time making ends meet. If you are interested in using goods that are recycled within the community, we can help you.
The Gemach operates under the auspices of Congregation Ahavat Shalom/Synagogue Association of West Englewood.
Who are we? We are a collective of families helping each other out.

Our Founder
Rachel Fleisher was inspired to start the Gemach in memory of her mother, Mrs. Ruthie Stefansky of blessed memory, whose entire life was dedicated to the service of others. Mrs. Stefansky took every opportunity to assist others, and make their lives happier and more fulfilling. She would do anything just to make the next person's burden just a little bit easier.
We endeavour to continue to embody Mrs. Stefansky's selfless spirit, and carry on this critical mission which fulfills a great need in our community.
